The New Chanel Kelly Bag Has Finally Arrived

After months of speculation among Chanel enthusiasts and collectors, the moment has finally arrived: the renewed Chanel Kelly Bag has made its debut in Chanel boutiques. At least, for those who were quick enough. In the Amsterdam boutique, the black model has already completely sold out.

We first caught a glimpse of this design during the Fall/Winter 2023/2024 show, where the bag was instantly declared the it-bag of the season. It also made a striking appearance on the red carpet: actress Margot Robbie, who not only starred in but also produced the Barbie movie, was spotted carrying the bag on several occasions. Thanks to her exclusive collaboration with Chanel, she dazzled in some of the house’s most iconic creations — including a coral-pink version of the new Kelly Bag.

Although the bag in the current collection is not officially named the “Kelly Bag,” the similarities with the beloved vintage model are undeniable. The timeless shape and signature top handle remain, but there are some subtle differences. Where the vintage version featured 24-carat gold hardware, the modern release comes with light gold details. This edition also includes a chain strap, making it practical to wear crossbody.The new Kelly Bag is available in two sizes and crafted from glossy aged calfskin with light gold hardware. The color range includes coral pink, light pink, white, blue, red, and classic black. The small size (8.3 x 12.5 x 4 cm) is priced at €2,900, while the larger version (13 x 19 x 7 cm) retailed at €4,300 in boutiques.

For those lucky enough to secure one of the new Kelly Bags — especially the larger size in black — this may prove to be a very smart investment. The model has already sold out worldwide, causing resale prices to rise rapidly. Recently, one appeared on the American resale platform Fashionphile for €8,450, nearly double the original retail price.Even after commissions (with private sellers typically receiving around 70% of the resale price), the return remains impressive: almost 70% profit in a short time.
